1. Introduction
IPTV M3U Player is a media player app that allows users to play their own IPTV, M3U, M3U8, and HLS playlist links on Android mobile devices, tablets, and Android TV.
This app does not provide, host, sell, or distribute any TV channels, playlists, streams, movies, shows, or other media content. Users are responsible for adding only playlist links and media sources that they are legally authorized to use.
2. Information We Collect
IPTV M3U Player does not require user registration, login, or account creation.
The app may store the following information locally on the user’s device:
- Playlist URL entered by the user
- Channel names parsed from the user’s playlist
- Stream URLs contained in the user’s playlist
- Channel logo URLs if provided inside the user’s playlist
- Favourite channel selections and channel order preferences
This information is stored locally on the device and is used only to display and play the user’s own playlist inside the app.
3. Local Web Server and QR Upload Feature
On Android TV devices, the app may start a temporary local web server to help users add playlist links from another device on the same Wi-Fi network.
For example, the app may show a local address or QR code such as:
http://192.168.x.x:8080
This local upload page is used only to receive playlist links from the user’s own phone or browser on the same local network.
The local web server:
- Works only while the app is running
- Is intended for use on the same Wi-Fi or local network
- Does not upload playlist data to the developer’s server
- Does not make playlists public
- Does not provide any channels or media content
4. How We Use Information
The app uses locally stored playlist information to:
- Save the playlist URL entered by the user
- Load and display channels from the playlist
- Show channel logos if available
- Play selected streams using the media player
- Save favourite channels and preferred channel order
- Cache the channel list locally for faster loading
We do not use this information for advertising, tracking, profiling, or selling user data.
5. Data Sharing
IPTV M3U Player does not sell, rent, or share user playlist data with the developer or third parties.
However, when a user plays a stream or loads a logo from a playlist, the app connects directly to the external URLs provided in the user’s playlist. Those external servers may receive standard technical information such as IP address, user-agent, and request details as part of normal internet communication.
Users should review the privacy practices of any playlist or streaming source they choose to use.
6. Third-Party Services and Libraries
The app may use third-party Android libraries for media playback, image loading, QR code generation, and local web server functionality, such as:
- AndroidX Media3 / ExoPlayer for video playback
- Glide for loading channel logos
- ZXing for QR code generation
- NanoHTTPD for the local upload page
- Gson for local channel cache handling
These libraries are used to provide app functionality. The app itself does not use these libraries to collect personal information for the developer.
7. Data Storage and Security
Playlist information, cached channels, favourites, and channel order preferences are stored locally on the user’s device using Android local storage.
Users should only use trusted Wi-Fi networks when using the local QR upload feature.
8. Data Retention and Deletion
Playlist information remains on the user’s device until:
- The user replaces the playlist link
- The user clears the app data from Android settings
- The user uninstalls the app
Users can delete app data at any time from:
Android Settings > Apps > IPTV M3U Player > Storage > Clear Data
9. Children’s Privacy
IPTV M3U Player is not specifically directed to children. The app does not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Users are responsible for ensuring that any playlist or media source they add is appropriate and legally authorized.
10. Content Disclaimer
IPTV M3U Player is only a media player.
The app does not include any built-in TV channels, playlists, live TV streams, movies, shows, or copyrighted media content.
The developer is not responsible for the content, availability, legality, or quality of playlists or streams added by users.
Users must ensure they have the legal right to access and play any playlist or media source they add to the app.
